How to safely care for your pet and stay safe during a mass shooting at a Portland community college is an important topic to consider, as the community’s first mass shooting was recently reported in the state.
While the number of confirmed and potential victims is expected to rise as more information comes out, the mass shooting appears to be one of the deadliest in the country’s history.
A large crowd of people, many of them armed with firearms, was seen at the Oregon State University (OSU) campus on Tuesday, and it appears they came to celebrate the school’s graduation.
One witness told ABC News that he saw a woman carrying a gun at the university, and that she walked up to the students and said: ‘You all got a good school?’
The shooter, who was wearing a jacket with a MAGA (Make America Great Again) patch on the chest, opened fire on the crowd.
The Oregon State Police, the FBI, Oregon State Health Services, and the Portland Police Department are currently investigating.
The first victim, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her name was not immediately released, and her condition was unknown.
Authorities say that the shooter’s motive is still unknown.
Oregon State Medical Examiner Dr. Jennifer Smith said in a statement that she will be conducting a post-mortem examination.
‘I have asked the medical examiner to conduct a thorough and comprehensive examination of the victim and her injuries, and we will continue to provide updates as they become available,’ she said.
The Oregon State Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet later today to decide whether to suspend the school.
The school is currently open and students have resumed classes.
According to a press release from the Portland Fire & Rescue Department, the shooter had a long history of mental illness.
‘We do not know what prompted the shooter to target this college,’ the press release said.
